Field Service Representative / Chemical Technician

Location: East Anglia (Peterborough / Cambridge area)
Position Type: Field-based / Mobile 12-Month Contract (Potential for extension)
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday
Pay Rate: GBP25.18 per hour (PAYE)

Job Summary

We are seeking a disciplined and analytical Field Service Representative / Chemical Technician to provide routine technical support services across industrial customer sites. In this mobile role, you will execute agreed customer assurance plans, manage chemical inventories, and assist with the startup of new water treatment applications.

This position is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong technical background in industrial water systems, wet chemistry testing, and equipment maintenance who enjoys working directly with key stakeholders in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Testing and Data Logging: Execute routine chemistry and water quality tests on-site, accurately log and report analytical data, and manage product inventory lines.
  • System Maintenance: Inspect, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on chemical feed equipment, process monitoring systems, and pre-treatment control setups.
  • Customer Support: Act as a technical point of contact on-site to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operational pain points, escalating complex issues when necessary.
  • Problem Solving: Perform system analyses, interpret performance data, and compile technical reports, graphs, or charts to provide written recommendations to optimize customer operations.
  • Collaborative Account Management: Work closely with field sales representatives to support account management, handle client site requirements, and assist with application start-ups.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Industry Experience: 5-7 years of hands-on experience working with industrial steam plants, boilers, cooling towers, closed water loops, chemical feed systems, and wet end chemistry.
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree or relevant qualification in Chemistry, Biology, Mechanical Engineering, or Process Engineering (or equivalent practical field experience).
  • Technical Skills: Highly organized with proficient IT capability, particularly across Microsoft Office packages (Advanced Excel, Word).
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a proven track record of building trust and managing relationships with on-site stakeholders.
  • Logistics: Must possess a full, clean UK driving license and be willing to travel daily to various customer sites within the designated Peterborough and Cambridge geography.
