Chemical/Process Engineer

Decarbontek, a startup based in Boston, Massachusetts area, pioneers carbon capture and removal technologies. Decarbontek developed the best-in-class MOF-based solid adsorbent, state-of-the-art structured adsorbent contactors, and a revolutionary rapid swing adsorption process using waste heat or renewable electricity. Our vertically integrated technologies have the potential to disrupt the carbon capture and removal industry, dramatically reduce CO2 removal cost, mitigate the impact of climate change and advance sustainability. To accelerate commercialization, we are looking for a Chemical/Process Engineer to join our team.

The Chemical/Process Engineer will conduct bench scale carbon capture and removal tests, and work with our partners to conduct pilot field testing. This is a full-time and onsite position.

Responsibilities

  • Operating, maintaining, and repairing proprietary laboratory equipment
  • Designing and running laboratory experiments
  • Analyzing, interpreting, and presenting experimental results
  • Visiting industrial sites to monitor equipment manufacture, installation, and operation
  • Collaborating and communicating with partners to ensure smooth execution of projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent and at least 3 years industry experience OR Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience with data analysis, experimental design, and data presentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Experience working in a hands-on research or manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in use of manual tools for equipment maintenance
  • Willing to travel up to 30% of the time
  • Must be able to legally work in the US without sponsorship
  • At least two references

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience in Python
  • 2+ years of experience in process simulations with software such as ASPEN
  • 2+ years of experience in CAD with software such as SolidWorks
  • Experience with P&IDs and process flow diagrams
  • Experience with industrial gas separations, adsorption processes, or flue gas systems
  • Experience with point of source or direct air carbon capture systems
