Chemistry Lecturer

Chemistry Lecturer – Part-Time (0.4 FTE, 2 Days/Week), Fixed-Term

Location: London, UK | Contract Type: Fixed-term (ends 09/07/2027) | Hours: 2 days per week (0.4 FTE)

About the Role: Chemistry Lecturer

As a Lecturer in Chemistry, you will support learners to unlock their potential through:

  • Delivering high-quality teaching in an engaging and stimulating environment
  • Contributing to curriculum development to enhance learning outcomes
  • Providing both academic and pastoral support to ensure student success in BTEC Chemistry
  • Inspiring students to achieve their goals and progress within their chosen career path

This part-time role comes with a fixed-term contract until July 2027, offering flexibility for passionate educators at various career stages—whether an experienced lecturer, newly qualified teacher, or transitioning professional.


Teaching Focus: BTEC Chemistry (Pearson Qualifications)

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and delivering lessons for BTEC Chemistry Levels 1–3, adhering to Pearson criteria
  • Providing dynamic classroom instruction that encourages learning and student engagement
  • Developing rigorous assessments and grading systems aligned with BTEC standards
  • Collaborating with colleagues to refine teaching practices and enhance student outcomes
  • Offering personalised pastoral guidance in addition to academic teaching

About You: Required Qualifications & Experience

  • A deep passion for Chemistry with the ability to make complex subjects accessible and exciting
  • Proven expertise in teaching BTEC Chemistry (Levels 1–3), including curriculum knowledge and experience with assessment requirements
  • Strong communication, organisational, and classroom management skills
  • Commitment to inclusive, learner-focused education, where every student is supported to thrive
  • Hold a recognized teaching qualification (e.g., QTS, PGCE) or be working towards one with clear intent
  • Experience (or aptitude) delivering to a diverse range of learners
  • Self-motivation, resilience, and a desire to inspire underrepresented or less-confident students
