Chief Architect – Digital Assets & DLT Platforms

This is a rare opportunity to define the architecture behind a major institutional digital asset platform operating at the forefront of financial market innovation. The mandate has already been secured. The initiative is funded, strategically important, and moving into real-world delivery. The platform will support the issuance and transfer of digital securities within a highly regulated financial market environment.

We are seeking a Chief Architect to provide technical leadership across architecture, engineering, and delivery, helping shape the future of digital assets, tokenisation, and distributed ledger technology within institutional finance.

The Role

This is a hands-on architecture leadership position for someone who still enjoys going deep technically. While stakeholder engagement is important, success will ultimately be determined by:

  • Architectural judgement
  • Technical credibility
  • The ability to make the right technology decisions in a complex and evolving landscape

You will be responsible for defining and challenging architecture decisions, evaluating technology choices, and ensuring that complex distributed systems are designed for production-scale operation.

Working closely with engineering teams, business leaders, and senior stakeholders, you will establish the technical foundations for a platform that must balance innovation with resilience, scalability, security, interoperability, and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Defining the target-state architecture for a new digital asset platform
  • Evaluating DLT, blockchain, and distributed systems technologies
  • Designing solutions across tokenisation, digital securities, settlement, custody, and interoperability
  • Determining appropriate on-chain, off-chain, and hybrid architecture models
  • Establishing architecture principles around resilience, scalability, security, compliance, and operational readiness
  • Providing technical leadership and challenge across engineering and architecture teams
  • Acting as a senior technical authority for architecture decisions and technology direction
  • Explaining complex technical concepts clearly to executive stakeholders and non-technical audiences
  • Supporting the transition from innovation and concept work into production-grade delivery

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We're Looking For

You will most likely have built your career within enterprise architecture, distributed systems, financial market infrastructure, payments, capital markets, or digital assets.

You may have worked on tokenisation initiatives, digital securities platforms, custody solutions, wholesale payments, settlement infrastructure, CBDCs, or other institutional digital asset technology. More important than any particular technology is the ability to make sound architectural decisions in complex, highly regulated environments.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Significant experience designing and architecting enterprise-scale platforms
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and modern architecture patterns
  • Practical experience with digital assets, tokenisation, DLT, blockchain, or related technologies
  • A track record of taking complex platforms from design through to production
  • Strong architectural judgement across resilience, scalability, security, interoperability, and operational risk
  • Experience operating within regulated financial services or similarly complex environments
  • The ability to challenge technology decisions from first principles rather than vendor narratives
  • Credibility with engineers, architects, and senior business stakeholders alike
  • The ability to explain highly complex technical concepts simply and clearly
