Chief Clipping Officer

Location: London, with flexible working
Company: Jimmy’s Jobs of the Future / Boxlight
Role type: Full-time
Seniority: The title says C-suite. The experience requirements don’t.

Starts as contractor, but full-time opportunities available - see jimmy's recent post for where this job could take you.

The opportunity

We have spent five years interviewing prime ministers, entrepreneurs, scientists, creators and business leaders about how the world of work is changing.

Across more than 250 interviews, there are thousands of brilliant moments: bold predictions, uncomfortable truths, practical advice, arguments that proved prescient and stories that deserve a much bigger audience.

Our audience is extremely high level and discerning (see Jimmy's recent post for where people have gone onto work after this) what we now need to achieve are some pieces that travel further.

Most of our archive are currently sitting inside long-form videos.

We want someone to change that.

We are hiring a Chief Clipping Officer to turn our archive and everything we record next into compelling, highly distributable short-form content.

The title is playful, but we are deadly serious about this as a job of the future.

You will help decide which ideas deserve to travel, this is one of the biggest skills of the future, judgment and prioritising out of 100+ hours of content is REALLY HARD.

You will have an idea of how they should be packaged and where they should be published. Your job is not simply to cut videos shorter. It is to understand what makes somebody stop scrolling, stay watching and share an idea with someone else.

What you’ll do

  • Watch and understand our long-form interviews, starting including the back catalogue.
  • Identify the moments with the greatest editorial, cultural or commercial potential.
  • Turn those moments into excellent clips for LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts, Instagram and TikTok.
  • Write hooks, headlines, captions and on-screen text.
  • Develop recurring formats.
  • Respond quickly when an old conversation becomes newly relevant because of the news. You will develop a mental library of our content.
  • Test different openings, lengths, edits and ways of framing the same idea.
  • Track performance and use the results to improve what we make next.
  • Work closely with Jimmy, our producers and editors to shape both distribution and future recordings.
  • Help grow the Jimmy’s Jobs company page and archive into a genuine media asset.
  • Occasionally explain to people that, yes, Chief Clipping Officer is a real job.
  • In due course, we would want you.
  • Build a searchable system for logging guests, themes, predictions, quotes and standout moments.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we’re looking for

You probably:

  • Consume an unreasonable amount of online video.
  • Instinctively recognise the sentence that will make people stop scrolling.
  • Understand the difference between a provocative hook and empty clickbait.
  • Can edit confidently
  • Know that the first two seconds matter, but so does the idea that follows them.
  • Understand the different cultures of LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
  • Have strong judgement around politics, business, technology and current affairs.
  • Can spot when a three-year-old clip has suddenly become relevant again.
  • Are organised enough to manage a substantial archive and fast enough to react to the moment.
  • Care about results, but don’t believe every creative decision can be made by staring at a dashboard.

You will be the sixth member of the team, we look for people that add culture, not just fit the culture.

You do not need:

  • Ten years of experience.
  • A traditional media CV.
  • To have already been a chief officer of anything.

We care much more about your taste, curiosity, judgement and evidence that you can make ideas travel.

What success looks like

  • We understand which guests, subjects, hooks and formats perform best.
  • Ideally, we would want you to be generating a certain number clips per day and responsible for posting them too.
  • Old conversations regularly reappear when they become relevant.
  • Short-form content is generating meaningful audience growth, inbound opportunities and commercial leads.
  • You have created at least one format that feels unmistakably ours.
  • Ability to accompany Jimmy to events and plan clips that might travel on that day or the next, this requires an understanding of the news cycles.

How to apply

Please send us to hello@jobsofthefuture.co

  • A short introduction.
  • Three examples of clips you have made or helped shape.
  • One clip from Jimmy’s Jobs of the Future that you think we have underused.
  • How you would repackage it - and why you think it could travel.
  • How many clips do you think you could make per day?
  • Day Rate / when can you start

This will be for an initial contract period, open to flexibility in number of days worked and where from.

Include your LinkedIn profile, but no generic cover letter is required.

Show us your judgement and best of luck shooting your shot.
