The Chief Design Engineer – Regen Role
The Chief Design Engineer – Regen reports to Chief Engineer – Nuclear Facilities and is responsible for maintaining and controlling the design and safety baseline for the new Nuclear Facilities being designed for the Raynesway Estate in Derby.
The Regen Project is currently in the Concept Design phase, where integration and the management of requirements, assumptions and interfaces is essential for the success of the project. Management of these factors is the responsibility of the Chief Design Engineer – Regen.
As the facility designs in the Regen Project mature, the Chief Design Engineer – Regen will be responsible for establishing design and safety baselines and controlling change from those baselines using established management arrangements that align to Nuclear Licence Conditions.
Key Accountabilities
- Act as deputy to the Chief Engineer - Nuclear Facilities for roles and appointments as delegated through a Certificate of Appointment
- Own, maintain and manage the design and safety baselines for a suite of new nuclear facilities
- Proactively provide leadership and direction to Subject Matter Experts and designated support staff and ensure robust deployment and maintenance of their capability
- Ensure effective knowledge management, in-line with company KiD policy, through the use of knowledge capture, lessons learnt, and best practice guides for the resource group, and encourage knowledge sharing within the group and beyond

Key Experiences and Qualifications
- Qualified to degree level or equivalent
- Be capable of managing the design and safety baseline of complex nuclear products or facilities, including experience of configuration management, asset management and safety case management
- Demonstrate effective leadership & engineering skills
- Demonstrate experience in the setting and execution of engineering processes (iaw a quality system) and safety management arrangements, preferably with experience of Nuclear Site License Conditions
- Demonstrate experience in the management of engineering change through the modification of physical assets and their underpinning configuration data
