Role description

Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a Chief Engineer – Automotive Manufacturing to be based at our office in Warwick.
Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
The Role
The Chief Engineer – Manufacturing Integration & Delivery is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of all manufacturing engineering, industrialization, facility integration, digital manufacturing, launch readiness and production support activities for an automotive vehicle programme. The role provides single-point accountability across BIW, Stamping, Paint, Trim & Final, PTME, Dimensional Systems, Logistics, Digital Manufacturing, MES Integration, Supplier Industrialization and Launch Support.
Area of Responsibility
- Lead BIW, Stamping, Paint Shop, Trim & Final Assembly, PTME, Dimensional Systems, Logistics Engineering, Digital Manufacturing, Virtual Validation, MES/SCADA and Industry 4.0 deployments.
- Manufacturing feasibility, joining strategy, robotics planning, welding processes, fixtures, tooling concepts, capacity planning, build sequence definition and launch support.
- Press shop strategy, die development, tooling industrialization, try-outs, process validation, supplier readiness and manufacturing capability achievement.
- Paint process planning, plant modifications, paint systems integration, quality maturation and launch readiness.
- Assembly process development, workstation engineering, ergonomics, tooling definition, line balancing, quality and throughput optimization.
- Engine, transmission, hybrid and EV powertrain integration, end-of-line testing and manufacturing readiness.
- Datum strategy, measurement planning, gap & flush achievement, dimensional validation and root cause resolution.
- PFEP development, material flow, sequencing, warehousing strategy, supplier logistics and launch support.
- Digital twin, factory simulation, virtual build, throughput simulation, MES deployment, traceability, analytics and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
- Own concept, feasibility, planning, industrialization, launch, SOP and hypercare phases with complete programme governance.
- Primary customer manufacturing interface, executive reviews, steering committees, escalation management and recovery planning.
- Budget ownership, resource planning, CAPEX/OPEX governance, cost optimisation and commercial support.
- Lead BIW, Stamping, Paint, Trim & Final, PTME, Logistics, Dimensional, Digital Manufacturing, MES, Quality, Launch and PMO leaders.

Knowledge / Experience
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Production or Manufacturing Engineering. Masters/MBA preferred.
- Automotive manufacturing experience with leadership of complete Vehicle programmes from concept to SOP.
- Previous experience with Simultaneous Engineering, APQP, PPAP, Run@Rate, Launch Readiness, Hypercare, Digital Twin, MES, SCADA, Lean Manufacturing, Capacity Planning, Supplier Industrialisation and Problem Solving.
- Previous experience with on-time SOP, PPAP approval, launch quality, production stability, budget adherence, customer satisfaction, manufacturing readiness and safety performance.
- Previous experience being fully accountable for delivery of complete manufacturing scope, integration of all manufacturing domains and achievement of quality, cost, delivery, safety and timing objectives.
