Chief Executive, Newham Hospital Barts Health NHS Trust
A defining leadership opportunity at the heart of east London.
Barts Health is one of the largest and most influential healthcare organisations in the country, serving a diverse population of more than two million people across north east London while playing a leading role in shaping healthcare nationally. Operating at scale but delivering locally through our five hospitals, we have a unique opportunity to improve outcomes, reduce inequalities and set the standard for modern, integrated care.
We are now seeking a Chief Executive for Newham Hospital, a vital district hospital at the centre of one of the UK’s most dynamic and diverse communities.
As a member of the Group Executive and Trust Board, you will play a key role in shaping the wider strategy of Barts Health while leading Newham Hospital through its next phase. You will be accountable for delivering safe, high-quality and compassionate care, improving performance and creating an environment where our people can thrive.
This is a role defined by place-based leadership. As the Trust’s senior leader in the Borough of Newham, you will work in close partnership with local authorities, the integrated care system and community organisations to address health inequalities and deliver meaningful improvements in population health outcomes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
