Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Banking
About the Opportunity
An established international banking and financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead its Finance and Regulatory Reporting functions during a key phase of strategic and operational development.
This is a senior executive leadership role with responsibility for financial governance, regulatory reporting, balance sheet management, and strategic financial oversight within a regulated banking environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO, COO, Board, and Executive Committee to support business growth, regulatory compliance, and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Provide executive oversight of the Finance and Regulatory Reporting functions
- Partner with senior leadership to support long-term business strategy and financial planning
- Contribute to Executive Committee and key governance committees
- Deliver strategic financial insights to support commercial and operational decision-making
Financial Management & Reporting
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, management accounting, and variance analysis
- Ensure accurate and timely statutory and management reporting
- Maintain compliance with IFRS, GAAP, tax, and regulatory reporting standards
- Oversee financial controls, governance, and reporting integrity

Regulatory Reporting & Governance
- Oversee PRA/FCA regulatory reporting submissions including COREP, FINREP, Pillar 3, liquidity and prudential returns
- Support ICAAP, ILAAP, stress testing, and recovery planning processes
- Manage relationships with regulators and external auditors
- Ensure ongoing compliance with evolving regulatory requirements
Treasury, ALCO & Balance Sheet Oversight
- Chair or contribute to ALCO activities and balance sheet management
- Monitor capital, liquidity, and financial risk metrics
- Support optimisation of capital deployment and funding structures
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor Finance and Regulatory Reporting teams
- Drive process improvement, systems enhancement, and operational efficiency
- Foster a high-performance and compliant finance culture
Candidate Profile
Experience Required
- Proven experience operating at CFO or senior finance leadership level within banking or financial services
- Strong knowledge of UK banking regulations and prudential reporting
- Experience engaging with regulators including PRA and FCA
- Deep understanding of financial controls, liquidity, capital management, and regulatory frameworks
- Demonstrated leadership of high-performing finance and reporting teams

Technical Expertise
- Regulatory reporting (COREP, FINREP, Pillar 3, liquidity returns)
- IFRS / GAAP financial reporting
- ICAAP / ILAAP processes
- Financial planning & analysis
- Treasury and balance sheet management
- Risk governance and control frameworks
Qualifications
- ACA, ACCA or equivalent accounting qualification
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- MBA or additional postgraduate qualification advantageous

Location & Working Pattern
- London-based hybrid working model
- Candidates should be able to attend the office regularly as required
