The Opportunity
Finatal is partnering with a leading private equity-backed construction business seeking to appoint a commercially astute Chief Financial Officer. The company currently generates approximately £150m revenue and has an ambitious growth strategy to reach £300m turnover within the next two years through a combination of organic growth, project expansion and international market development.
Operating across multiple jurisdictions, the business is entering a pivotal stage in its evolution, requiring a CFO capable of professionalising the finance function, supporting international expansion and partnering with the CEO and investors to drive significant value creation.
This represents an outstanding opportunity for a high-calibre finance leader to join a successful, growing organisation and play a central role in delivering the next phase of growth.
The Role
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Board and investors, the CFO will be responsible for providing strategic and operational financial leadership across the group. Key responsibilities will include:

- Developing and executing the financial strategy to support a doubling of revenues over the next two years.
- Acting as a strategic partner to the CEO, Board and PE sponsors.
- Leading all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting.
- Driving cash flow optimisation and working capital management.
- Ensuring robust project accounting and contract profitability reporting across a large portfolio of construction projects.
- Overseeing WIP accounting, revenue recognition and project controls.
- Supporting bid evaluation, pricing strategies and contract negotiations to maximise commercial outcomes.
- Leading banking relationships, debt facilities and financing activities.
- Establishing governance, controls and reporting processes appropriate for a scaled international business.
- Supporting M&A activity and post-acquisition integration where required.
- Leading the creation and ongoing management of international legal entities, including tax, compliance and operational considerations.
- Building and developing a high-performing finance team capable of supporting continued growth.

Candidate Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Previous CFO, Finance Director or divisional CFO experience within a construction, engineering, infrastructure or project-based contracting environment.
- Strong understanding of:
- WIP accounting
- Revenue recognition
- Project accounting
- Contract accounting
- Cash flow management
- Commercial project controls
- Proven experience supporting major bids, tenders and contract negotiations.
- Experience operating within a multi-entity and/or international environment.
- Strong understanding of working capital drivers in project-led businesses.
- Demonstrable experience managing relationships with investors, lenders and other stakeholders.
- Evidence of successfully scaling businesses through periods of rapid growth.
- Previous experience in a private equity-backed environment.
- Experience establishing overseas entities and supporting international expansion.
- Exposure to acquisitions and integration programmes.
- Track record of delivering successful exits, refinancing's or value creation initiatives.
