Chief Financial Officer | Transport & Logistics SaaS | Series B | London, King's Cross
About the business:
We're working with a fast-growing software company serving the transport and logistics sector. Its platform has become a core part of how its customers run their operations, and those customers tend to stay and grow their usage over time. Revenue has scaled quickly without the heavy cash burn often seen at this stage, and a recent Series B has given the business the backing to invest harder in product and to hire ahead of demand.
Why this role matters:
The CEO is looking for a commercial number two rather than a controller. In practice that means being in the room when pricing, hiring and expansion decisions get made, and bringing both the numbers and the judgement to move those conversations forward. Preparing the business for its next raise, operationally and in the story it tells investors, will be an early priority.
What you'll be doing:
- Working alongside the CEO on the decisions that shape the business, from where the next pound of investment goes to how the company is positioned for its next round
- Turning the financial model into something the leadership team uses week to week, rather than a spreadsheet that only appears at board meetings
- Owning the relationship with existing investors and running point on the next fundraise
- Building the reporting framework a SaaS business needs, covering the usual growth and retention measures as well as the unit economics specific to the sector
- Running planning, forecasting and monthly reporting so the output answers questions rather than just describing the past
- Assessing the financial case for new products and new markets before the business commits
- Building the team, systems and controls the company will need as it continues to scale
- Keeping statutory reporting, controls and audit readiness in good order across all entities

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
