Company Description
Deep Optica is an AI4Science startup building a Mining World Model to transform how subsurface resources are discovered and evaluated. The World Model integrates geological, geophysical, geochemical, remote sensing, and drilling data to represent subsurface conditions and explicitly capture uncertainty. It is delivered through expert-led exploration services and agent-based software products. These offerings help mining companies and investors evaluate, compare, and reason about assets in early-stage exploration and transactions. Deep Optica aims to combine scientific rigor with advanced AI to drive better decision-making in global mineral exploration.
Role Description
The Chief Geoscientist (AI4Science Startup Executive) is a full-time, hybrid role based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with flexibility for partial work from home. In this position, the Chief Geoscientist leads the scientific direction of the Mining World Model, designing frameworks to integrate geological, geophysical, and geochemical datasets into robust subsurface representations. I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
