About the Role
Ordnance Survey (OS) is one of the world’s leading geospatial organisations, playing a critical role in supporting government, public services and the wider economy. As we accelerate our contribution to the UK’s digital transformation agenda, we are seeking an exceptional Chief Impact Officer to join our Executive Leadership Team.
Shaping the future impact of Britain’s national mapping service, this is a unique opportunity to operate at the highest levels of leadership, defining how OS delivers measurable societal, economic and national value through location data.
Key Responsibilities
1. Executive Leadership
- Serve as a full member of the Executive Leadership Team, shaping strategy, decision-making, and organisational performance
- Build OS’s external leadership voice, presence, and influence across government and beyond
2. Impact & Public Sector Strategy
- Define and deliver a clear Public Sector impact strategy aimed at accelerating adoption of OS data, products, and services
- Align OS capabilities with national priorities (e.g., economic growth, housing, infrastructure) by collaborating with Product leadership
3. Impact Measurement & Insight
- Establish a robust framework to evidence and articulate OS’s societal and economic value
- Provide authoritative geospatial insights to inform policy, decision-making, and public discourse
4. Reach, Adoption & Partnerships
- Expand OS’s reach across government and public services
- Lead high-impact partnerships (e.g., defence, infrastructure) and position OS as a trusted partner

5. Cross-Organisational Leadership
- Collaborate with Customer, Product, Data, and Technology leaders to embed impact into strategy, investment, and delivery
- Strengthen engagement with the Customer Public Sector team to expand market reach
- Represent OS nationally and internationally, enhancing its reputation as a world-leading geospatial organisation
6. Innovation & Ecosystem
- Lead Geovation, ensuring it delivers maximum impact as OS’s innovation and accelerator capability
- Scale Geovation’s reach across Great Britain
7. Communications & Reputation
- Provide executive leadership for corporate communications, PR, and thought leadership
- Ensure a consistent OS narrative aligned with strategic priorities
- Engage proactively on high-profile or sensitive issues
About You
You bring:
- Significant executive leadership experience at ELT or Board level within or alongside the UK Public Sector
- A deep understanding of UK government systems, policy-making, and delivery
- A proven track record of delivering measurable, system-level impact in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
- Experience leading innovation, communications, partnerships, or reputation-critical functions
- A strong external profile, confident in representing OS in senior forums, media, and international settings
- Exceptional strategic thinking, influencing, and communication skills

The Rewards
The generous package includes:
- Competitive salary (c. £170k) with a pension (OS contributes up to 12.07%)
