The Role

HSBC Innovation Bank (HINV) is a high-growth digital environment with ambitions to scale as a legal entity end-to-end bank within Commercial Bank UK and HSBC UK. Reporting to the UK Technology CIO this role is accountable for the full breadth of HINV technology across the UK estate - from strategy and delivery to operational performance. You’ll ensure technology enables HINV’s Growth Strategy and Scale Up ambitions while meeting regulatory and control expectations. Working closely with the HINV OPCO with a non-functional line into the HINV COO you’ll partner across Group Technology HBUK CIB and CMB UK to leverage modern secure and resilient solutions. Success means a well-governed technology portfolio strong service availability and operational resilience and clear oversight of risks incidents and controls. You’ll also position HINV as a test-and-learn environment to pilot emerging technology including AI and automation with robust governance.

What you'll be doing

  • Own technology strategy delivery and operational performance for HINV UK in line with Growth Strategy and Scale Up ambitions
  • Oversee the HINV UK technology estate including oversight of 549 applications and focus on 172 applications supporting Important Business Services
  • Govern the HINV UK change portfolio for technology services including delivery of the $18m change portfolio
  • Manage technology operations including incident management critical service reviews and service availability improvements
  • Set portfolio prioritisation with associated Value Streams to maximise business value at optimal cost
  • Establish technology governance technology investment control and spend optimisation across Run and Change costs
  • Partner with HSBC Technology architects to assess solution fit and align to target and future state architecture
  • Champion adoption of AI and automation tools across the HINV landscape in partnership with the HINV Head of Business Solutions

What we're looking for

  • Bring substantial experience owning technology strategy delivery and operational performance in a regulated environment
  • Demonstrate proven delivery of digital products and services including deployment to and management of mobile and web channels
  • Show strong understanding of technology landscape including technology and business architecture and digital platforms
  • Evidence experience governing technology investment controls cost optimisation and change portfolio delivery
  • Bring experience managing technology operations including incident management service availability and operational resilience
  • Demonstrate capability partnering across matrix organisations with senior stakeholders across Business Technology Audit and Regulatory functions
  • Show understanding of innovation banking products and services such as accounts payments and lending and the servicing models that underpin them
  • Demonstrate experience engaging with regulators where relevant and maintaining strong internal control standards including timely closure of audit and regulatory issues
  • Demonstrate understanding of the Senior Manager Certification Regime
