Are you ready to secure one of the most complex global organisations in government?

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) is looking for a Chief Information Security Officer.

Operating across more than 180 countries and territories, FCDO faces a rapidly evolving cyber threat landscape while delivering an ambitious programme of digital transformation.

We're looking for a leader who can balance risk with innovation, influence at the highest levels and build a security function that enables delivery, not bureaucracy.

What you will drive

  • Global Cyber Security Leadership, lead a team of more than 60 information and cyber security professionals responsible for protecting FCDO's people, systems, information and operations across a worldwide diplomatic network.
  • Security for a Transforming Government Department, shape and deliver the cyber and information security strategy that underpins FCDO's digital transformation agenda, ensuring security is embedded into major technology, data and operational change programmes.
  • Executive Risk & Assurance, act as the trusted adviser to executive leaders and ministers, translating complex cyber threats and security risks into clear decisions that support organisational priorities and national interests.
  • Security at Global Scale, build and evolve governance, assurance and risk frameworks that secure critical services operating across multiple jurisdictions, geopolitical environments and threat landscapes.
  • Cyber Resilience & Threat Management, lead vulnerability management, incident readiness and continuous improvement activity to ensure FCDO remains resilient against an increasingly sophisticated and persistent threat environment.
  • Cross-Government & International Influence, represent FCDO and the UK in senior government, international and security forums, helping shape thinking on cyber security, resilience and information protection across the public sector and beyond.
  • Future Capability Building, develop the next generation of cyber security professionals, creating a high-performing function with the skills, leadership and capability required to meet future challenges.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
