Senior Legal Counsel
Location: New York, NY Reports to: General Counsel
About the Role
Baton Corporation, the development team behind pump.fun—the dominant memecoin launchpad on Solana, handling an average $300M+ daily volume—is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel. Last year, pump.fun generated over $500M in profit with a team of fewer than 100 people.
We operate as a high-velocity, technology-driven company with a global user base across the US, EU, Asia, and beyond. Legal and regulatory challenges are dynamic, impactful, and a core aspect of our growth. This is a newly created, senior in-house position reporting directly to the General Counsel.
The ideal candidate will serve as the principal legal advisor across regulatory affairs, product counsel, corporate governance, and cross-border compliance, requiring both technical legal expertise and commercial pragmatism. The role demands someone who thrives in low-bureaucracy, high-stakes environments with clear expectations.
Scope of Responsibilities
Regulatory Affairs & Digital Asset Compliance
- Serve as the primary internal expert on US digital asset regulation (SEC, CFTC, FinCEN, OFAC), providing timely, well-reasoned legal guidance to product, engineering, and commercial teams.
- Own and manage the company’s global regulatory posture, including:
- UK (FCA)
- EU (MiCA/DORA)
- APAC jurisdictions
- Identify exposures and develop defensible compliance frameworks.
- Lead regulatory engagement:
- Respond to inquiries, manage investigations, and represent the company in proceedings alongside outside counsel.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments in relevant jurisdictions and translate them into actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
- Oversee AML/KYC programme integrity in collaboration with the Head of Compliance, ensuring frameworks are robust, current, and audit-ready.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
