This is a rare and high-impact opportunity to join Nottingham Building Society as Chief of Staff, a pivotal role at the centre of our organisation.
Working directly with the CEO, Executive Committee (ExCo), and senior leadership team, you will help shape and deliver our strategic agenda while driving operational excellence across the Society. Acting as a trusted advisor, strategic partner, and facilitator, you will ensure key initiatives are aligned, prioritised, and successfully delivered.
As we continue to evolve into a future-focused modern mutual, you will play a critical role in connecting strategy to execution, embedding collaboration, innovation, and customer obsession across the business.
You will be the CEO’s eyes and ears, a connector across leadership teams and a driver of momentum and ensuring we deliver against our ambitions and long-term sustainability.
Here’s a taste of what you will be doing as a Chief of Staff at Nottingham Building Society:
- Shape and drive strategy: Lead the strategic planning process across the organisation, partnering with the CEO, ExCo, and PMO to develop, challenge, and execute initiatives aligned to our long-term vision
- Turn insight into impact: Synthesise market intelligence, customer insights, and internal data to identify risks, opportunities, and emerging trends that inform decision-making
- Deliver executive-level performance insight: Define KPIs, track progress, and produce clear, high-quality reporting and narratives for Executive and Board audiences
- Act as the CEO’s strategic right hand: Lead cross-functional priorities, support decision-making, and ensure alignment and delivery across the CEO’s direct reports
- Lead high-impact projects: Identify organisational challenges and provide direction, guidance, and hands-on leadership to deliver meaningful outcomes
- Own the operating rhythm: Design and manage executive cadence, ensuring structured governance, prioritisation, and consistent progress across strategic initiatives
- Enable executive effectiveness: Oversee the Business Manager/EA function, create impactful agendas and materials, and ensure seamless coordination across ExCo
- Strengthen communication and alignment: Partner with Communications and Company Secretariat to deliver consistent, engaging messaging and ensure clarity across the organisation

About You
- Strategic and commercially astute: You bring a strong understanding of market dynamics, competitors, and emerging technologies, and can translate insight into clear strategic direction and business impact
- An exceptional storyteller: You are highly skilled at synthesising complex data into compelling narratives and presentations that influence Executive and Board-level decision-making
- Execution-focused and delivery-driven: You have a proven ability to manage multiple priorities, lead projects, and ensure delivery of strategic initiatives in fast-paced, high-visibility environments
- Analytical and insight-led: You combine strong problem-solving capability with experience in financial and operational analysis to inform decisions and identify opportunities
- A credible and influential relationship builder: With high emotional intelligence, you build trust quickly, act as a trusted sounding board, and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organisation
- Customer-focused with strong commercial and risk awareness: You balance a deep commitment to customer outcomes with sound commercial judgement and an understanding of governance and risk
- Experienced in strategic and transformational delivery: You have a track record of delivering or supporting large-scale change, transformation, or cross-functional programmes
- Qualified and confident at senior level: Degree educated (or equivalent experience), with the presence, credibility, and communication skills to operate effectively with senior leadership and Board stakeholders
