Invest in Equity

Chief of Staff — Invest in Equity

Location: London, UK (hybrid)

Reports to: Stephanie Murtagh, Co-founder

About Invest In Equity

Invest in Equity is a mission-driven organisation advancing gender equity in life science investment. Through mentorship, sponsorship, networking, resources, and advocacy, we connect and empower women working in venture capital while engaging allies and organisations to drive systemic change.

The Role

We’re looking for a Chief of Staff to work directly with our co-founders on the activities that bring Invest in Equity to life every day—from producing events and growing our community to developing marketing content and securing the resources that sustain our mission. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role at the heart of everything we do.

This is a high-visibility role suited to someone who thrives on variety, is energized by producing events and building community, and is comfortable switching between a briefing document in the morning and a venue walk-through in the afternoon. If you want to be close to the action in a small, ambitious team doing important work, this is the role.

What You'll Do

Events & Programme Delivery

  • Own the end-to-end delivery of IIE’s events calendar—from our invitation-only gatherings and roundtables for senior investment professionals to public programmes and community convenings. This means sourcing venues, managing guest lists, coordinating speakers, handling logistics on the day, and following up afterwards.
  • Manage relationships with venues, suppliers, and event partners, keeping quality high and costs in check as the programme scales.
  • Work with the co-founders to develop new programme formats—including networking series, mentorship cohort events, and thought-leadership panels—that deepen the value IIE offers its community.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Marketing, Communications & Community Building

  • Lead IIE’s day-to-day marketing activity: drafting social media content, writing newsletters, updating the website, and creating materials that keep the community informed and engaged across LinkedIn and other channels.
  • Grow and steward the IIE community—managing membership, responding to inbound interest, onboarding new members, and ensuring the network remains a high-quality, trusted space for women in life science investment.
  • Develop and maintain IIE’s outward-facing voice—supporting the co-founders in thought-leadership opportunities, drafting external communications, and ensuring messaging is consistent, compelling, and aligned to mission.

Partnerships & Resource Generation

  • Identify, develop and manage corporate partnerships and sponsorship relationships that generate revenue and resources for IIE—including preparing proposals, tracking conversations, and supporting due diligence or negotiation as needed.
  • Support grant applications, impact reporting, and fundraising efforts that help sustain and grow the organisation’s programmes.
  • Serve as a trusted liaison between the co-founders, advisors, partner organisations, and the broader community—keeping relationships warm and communication clear.

Operations & Founder Support

  • Keep the co-founders focused and effective by managing their priorities, preparing briefing materials, coordinating diaries, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks across a busy and varied workload.
  • Take ownership of ad hoc and cross-functional projects as the organisation grows—including impact measurement, research, and building the lightweight systems that help a small team operate above its weight class.

What We're Looking For

  • 3-5 years of experience in operations, strategy, consulting, venture capital, or a startup environment—ideally with exposure to life sciences or investment.
  • Exceptional organisational skills: you bring structure to ambiguity and keep multiple workstreams moving in parallel.
  • Strong communication: you write clearly, present confidently, and adapt your style to different audiences.
  • Good judgement and discretion: you'll handle sensitive information and represent leadership in delicate situations.
  • Proactive mindset: you spot problems before they become crises and propose solutions rather than waiting for direction.
  • Alignment with our mission: a genuine interest in advancing gender equity in investment and life sciences.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting founders, C-suite executives, or boards.
  • Familiarity with the European venture or life sciences ecosystem.
  • Experience in social media management or content creation, particularly on LinkedIn.

What We Offer

  • A central role shaping a growing, impact-driven organisation at the intersection of finance and life sciences.
  • Direct exposure to senior leaders across the investment community.
  • Flexible, hybrid working arrangements.
  • Unfortunately, we are not able to offer visa sponsorship at this time.
