Group Commercial & Operations Manager

About the Role

We're partnering with a growing, multi-service logistics business to appoint a Group Commercial & Operations Manager.

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for driving operational excellence, commercial performance and strategic growth across multiple business units, including warehousing, fulfilment and transport services.

Working closely with the executive leadership team, you'll play a key role in improving processes, leading teams, implementing technology and ensuring the business continues to scale efficiently while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Contribute to business strategy and operational planning.
  • Work closely with the executive leadership team to deliver company objectives.
  • Develop and implement operational improvement initiatives.
  • Champion company values and high performance across the organisation.

Operations

  • Lead and coordinate operational teams across multiple service divisions.
  • Monitor performance, productivity and service quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement across processes and systems.
  • Manage supplier relationships and negotiate commercial contracts and SLAs.
  • Identify and implement new technology and software to improve operational efficiency.

Commercial & Financial

  • Manage operational budgets and financial performance.
  • Review operational data and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
  • Control inventory and resource planning.

People Leadership

  • Lead, develop and mentor managers and operational teams.
  • Identify capability gaps and implement recruitment and training plans.
  • Foster collaboration across departments and create a high-performance culture.

Support Functions

  • Improve the effectiveness of functions including IT, HR and Finance.
  • Ensure effective communication across the wider business.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures and Health & Safety requirements.

  • Experience implementing operational systems and process improvements.
  • Ability to solve complex business challenges and make informed commercial decisions.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with excellent organisational skills.
