Chief Road Tester

We’re looking for our next Chief Road Tester to work across Bauer’s industry-leading motorcycle media brands: MCN, RiDE, and Bike.

The most coveted job in two-wheel media demands a candidate who can mix riding skill and the ability to analyse motorcycle in granular detail with confident, high-quality written copywriting and video presentation.

We’re looking for an individual who can hop on just about any motorcycle, in scenarios ranging from wet city streets in November, sun-kissed racetracks, technical trail rides high in the mountains, and more.

And when it’s time for the riding fun to end, they’ll need to be able to follow tight briefs, producing accurate, engaging content to strict deadlines to deliver the kind of in-depth, quality review that separates us from the tide of AI-slop and superficial click-bait…

Our road test team also contributes to the long-term testing of key models to deliver ongoing insight after first ride reviews, as well as testing motorcycle clothing and products essential to the two-wheel experience, contributing to the broader content remit, ensuring a diverse, ever-engaging workload.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Working times aren’t always fixed and predictable: long days behind handlebars or keyboard will be what it sometimes takes to deliver on the expectations of our audience, but the payoff is joining a passionate team of experts, riding the finest motorcycles in incredible locations across the globe, with money-can’t-buy experiences a regular occurrence.

This is a senior role within our content creation team with expectations to match: the successful candidate will have proven experience in journalism or creative writing first and foremost, closely followed by demonstrable machine control, both of which will be subject to assessment in the interview. A full UK motorcycle licence is a must, and while the role is hybrid, a significant amount of testing begins at our Peterborough office, so you will need to be able to travel here when required. International travel is part of the role too, so a passport and full travel clearance will be needed.

What’s in it for you:

  • You’ll have 28 days holiday, bank holidays & 2 volunteer days to use.
  • Your development matters, so access to our internal training provider – Bauer Academy, is a huge win.
  • We have enhanced Maternity/Adoption, Paternity, and Shared Parental Leave Pay.
  • We offer flexible working
  • And much more! Find the full details of our benefits here
