About the Role
Join the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) as our Chief Strategy Officer, a pivotal executive role shaping our strategy in a high-impact organisation that touches millions of lives every day.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead the development and delivery of NHSBSA’s strategy, ensuring high-quality, efficient national services that deliver value for taxpayers and support frontline care. As a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board, you will bring insight, innovation, and commercial acumen to drive growth, transformation, and long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
This influential role spans strategy, business development, performance, and assurance. You will:

Lead system-wide transformation, identifying and delivering growth opportunities while building strategic partnerships across government, the NHS, and key stakeholders.

Strengthen robust risk and assurance frameworks to build confidence in organisational performance.

Foster an innovative and customer-focused culture, empowering teams to deliver meaningful impact.

Ensure NHSBSA remains at the forefront of national business services.

Location: Leeds, Newcastle, or Eastbourne (with regular travel to Newcastle).

Key Responsibilities
As the Chief Strategy Officer, you will be accountable for the following:

Strategic alignment: Shared executive accountability for shaping the organisation’s strategic direction to achieve its mission and contribute to long-term strategic and annual business plans.

Stakeholder engagement: Developing and implementing strategies to manage NHSBSA’s reputation with key stakeholders.

Performance and transformation: Leading a diverse directorate to drive strategic priorities for the organisation and broader healthcare landscape, ensuring alignment with evolving NHS needs.

Innovative solutions: Guiding the transformation agenda, evaluating and prioritising opportunities for transformational change.

Customer-centric strategy: Designing and communicating a customer strategy that prioritises needs across all NHSBSA services.

Collaborative planning: Partnering with the Executive and Non-Executive Boards to develop, finalise, and produce NHSBSA’s strategy, business plan, annual report, and long-term vision.

Strategic execution: Collaborating with business leaders to identify, analyse, and prioritise strategic initiatives and drive execution across all strategic plans.
