Pharmacy Digital Technician Role – ePMA Configuration & Optimisation Support
The Pharmacy Digital team at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB) delivers exceptional patient care through intelligent use of data and technology, managing key systems such as:
- Trust-wide ePMA solutions
- Pharmacy-specific applications
- Automation tools (e.g. stock control, dispensing robots, cabinets, and tracking solutions)
This role supports departmental objectives by driving configuration, optimisation, and training for the ePMA system, ensuring alignment with clinical and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities

Leadership on ePMA Configuration & Optimisation
- Collaborate directly with the Senior Pharmacist – Clinical Systems to manage Trust-wide ePMA solutions.
- Identify opportunities for system improvements, formulating business plans to implement new features or workflows.
- Act as the primary trainer for the Pharmacy team, delivering sessions on ePMA functionality and serving as staff reference point.

System Interoperability & Efficiency
- Work closely with Chief Pharmacy Technicians (Automation & Systems) to ensure seamless integration between pharmacy platforms.
- Maximise interoperability benefits across pharmacy digital infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot system inefficiencies, analyse root causes, implement fixes, and measure effectiveness.

Essential Requirements
- Registered Pharmacy Technician in the UK, with proven clinical or operational experience.
- Prior hands-on experience with ePMA systems (clinical or operational) essential.
- Ability to diagnose problems, proactively propose solutions, test changes, and evaluate success.
- Commitment to working within a digital-first approach to enhance patient care.
