Founding Chief Technology Officer (Equity)
Location: London, United Kingdom (Hybrid/Flexible)
Checkpoint
Checkpoint is an early-stage consumer technology company building a new category of mobile platform at the intersection of technology, culture and entertainment.
We believe the next generation of consumer technology won't just live on a screen - it will help people discover, experience and engage with the real world in entirely new ways.
We're preparing for our first institutional investment round and are looking for an exceptional founding technical leader to help build the company alongside us.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join the company at the very beginning.
You won't inherit an engineering team. You'll build one.
Working alongside the founders, you'll define the technical vision, lead development of our platform, support fundraising and establish the engineering foundations of a business designed for long-term global scale.
We've spent the last few years developing the product vision, validating the opportunity and laying the foundations of the business. Now we're looking for a technical leader who will challenge our thinking, contribute strategically and help shape what Checkpoint becomes.
Why Join Checkpoint?
From day one, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Define the company's technical architecture and long-term technology strategy.
- Build and lead the engineering organisation from the ground up.
- Work alongside the founders during fundraising and company growth.
- Influence the future direction of the product, technology and business.
- Build a company from first principles with meaningful equity from the outset.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

A Note from the Founders
We're looking for someone who wants to help build a company, not simply join one.
We've spent the last few years developing the vision and laying the foundations of the business. Now we're looking for a technical partner who will strengthen that vision, challenge our thinking and help build a better company than we could create on our own.
One founder brings experience in strategy, transformation and commercial leadership across ITV, the BBC and Paramount, while the other has an international investment banking background at J.P. Morgan. Together, we combine expertise across consumer businesses, strategic partnerships, corporate finance and fundraising.
If you're excited by the opportunity to build something ambitious from the ground up, or know someone who might be, we'd welcome a confidential conversation.
