Hanover has built a reputation as a trusted partner to UK Central Government, supplying exceptional Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) professionals into some of the country's largest and most complex transformation programmes.
Now we're entering the next phase of our journey.
We're evolving into a specialist technology consultancy delivering outcomes through AI-enabled delivery, cloud engineering, data platforms and intelligent automation.
We're building a consultancy where AI accelerates delivery but governance, security, assurance and public trust always come first.
To help us achieve that ambition, we're looking for our first Chief Technology Officer.
This is not a traditional CTO role
You'll be joining Hanover at a pivotal stage in our growth.
Initially, you'll combine the responsibilities of Chief Technology Officer with executive leadership of our technology delivery capability, helping us define both what we deliver and how we deliver it.
Working alongside our Managing Director, Business Development Director and Head of Delivery, you'll establish the operating model, technical standards, governance and delivery capability that will underpin Hanover's future.
As we grow, operational delivery leadership will transition to a dedicated Delivery Director, allowing you to focus fully on your long-term CTO responsibilities.

You'll lead Hanover's technology strategy while helping build a delivery organisation recognised for technical excellence and trusted execution.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Defining Hanover's technology vision and AI strategy.
- Building our trusted AI-enabled delivery model.
- Leading technical solution design for bids and client engagements.
- Establishing engineering standards, architecture principles and technical governance.
- Providing executive technical assurance across customer delivery.
- Developing new service offerings across AI, cloud, data engineering and intelligent automation.
- Building and mentoring high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
- Representing Hanover with senior government stakeholders including CIOs, CTOs, Chief Digital Officers, Enterprise Architects and Programme Directors.

- Secure-by-design engineering.
- Cyber security and information assurance.
- Technical governance and architecture assurance.
- Responsible and ethical AI.
- Delivery assurance and operational resilience.
- Transparent, accountable and trustworthy technology delivery.
Who we're looking for
You'll probably be a Technology Director, Chief Architect, Engineering Director, Practice Lead or CTO within a consultancy or systems integrator, looking for the opportunity to shape an organisation rather than inherit one.

You'll bring experience in many of the following:
- UK Central Government digital transformation.
- Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT).
- AI strategy and AI-enabled software delivery.
- Responsible AI and AI governance.
- Cloud architecture (Azure and/or AWS).
- Platform Engineering and DevSecOps.
- Data Engineering and data platforms.
- Enterprise or Solution Architecture.
- Cyber Security and Information Assurance.
- Technical governance and delivery assurance.
- Building multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Commercial solution design, bids and pre-sales.
Experience delivering programmes for organisations such as HMRC, DWP, Home Office, Cabinet Office, DEFRA, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Defence or NHS England would be highly advantageous.
