About The Role

Carinity – Wahroonga have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Child and Family Therapist to join the team. This role provides quality therapeutic and resourcing interventions for children/young people and families referred exclusively through Child Safety. You will provide targeted therapeutic support to address complex issues including child abuse, neglect, domestic and family violence, attachment difficulties, and trauma.

In this role you will utilise a collaborative case management approach to strengthen family relationships, enhance children’s safety/wellbeing and develop supporting networks within the community. You will monitor the level of risk to children and families engaged within the program and actively raise awareness about Youth Suicide Prevention, Youth Mental Health, Child Safety and Domestic Violence within the community.

This part-time position requires availability Monday to Thursday each week between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM.

What do I need for the role?

  • Significant experience in specialist counselling supporting children/young people and their families in relation to domestic and family violence, child abuse, neglect, and attachment and trauma
  • Experience in external supervision or willing to participate in training
  • Sound knowledge base of therapeutic approaches and interventions to assist children and families
  • Sound knowledge of the Child Protection Act and other relevant legislation
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to all management, staff, and clients
  • Tertiary qualification/s in psychology/social work/counselling or similar relevant discipline
  • Hold a current Suitability for Working with Children card (Blue Card)
