Child Care Lead Infant Teacher

Lead Teacher – Early Childhood Education

Location: Lancaster, NY Pay: $18.50 – $20.50 per hour Job Type: Full-Time (no evenings or weekends!)

Responsibilities

As a Lead Teacher, you'll partner with teachers and families to create a home away from home for children (ages 6 weeks – 12 years), aligned with NAEYC guidelines. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring safety, supervision, and well-being of children in a structured classroom environment.
  • Designing developmentally appropriate curriculum based on NAEYC standards.
  • Planning engaging activities tailored to each child’s interests and learning style.
  • Maintaining a clean, warm, and inviting environment that encourages exploration and growth.
  • Collaborating with families to implement tailored care and educational plans.
  • Fostering transparent communication with parents/guardians regarding their child’s progress.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you must meet the following:

  • Qualifications:
    • Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field),
    • OR CDA (Child Development Associate) credential,
    • OR 12+ credits in Early Childhood Education courses.
  • Experience:
    • 2+ years preferred in a licensed child care facility.
  • Skills:
    • Strong customer service orientation.
    • Ability to multitask and stay organised.
    • Must adhere to regular operating hours and state child care employment criteria.
  • Language:
    • Proficiency in functional written and oral English required.
