Closing date: 02/08/2026.

Salary: Grade 12, £28,598 - £32,061 per annum.

Contract: Fixed Term until 31 August 2027.

Hours: Full time 37 hours per week.

Role Summary

These are 2 fixed term positions for our county wide specialist exploitation team. There is a mix between parenting work and direct work with children with a focus on reducing risk for exploitation and engaging parents in safety planning and being part of the protective network.

Help young people feel safer, stronger and more confident.

Working one-to-one with young people and their families, you'll use relationship-based practice to help keep children safe, build awareness of risks, boost confidence, and support them to achieve their potential.

This county-wide Somerset role works alongside Social Care, Family Intervention and Youth Justice Services, so you'll collaborate with a range of professionals to deliver the best outcomes for children and young people.

What You’ll Do - Key Responsibilities

  • Build trusted relationships with vulnerable young people and their families.
  • Deliver targeted interventions that help reduce the risk of exploitation and improve safety.
  • Empower young people to build confidence, resilience and positive futures.
  • Work alongside Social Care, Youth Justice and other professionals to achieve the best outcomes.
  • Champion the voice of the child within multi-agency planning and decision-making.
  • Maintain clear, accurate records and contribute to effective safeguarding practice.
  • Travel across Somerset to provide direct support where it is needed most.

What We’re Looking For – Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with children, young people and their families.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to safeguard children and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Understand child exploitation, including the signs, indicators and impact on young people.
  • Deliver effective support and interventions to vulnerable children and young people.
  • Communicate confidently and sensitively with children, families and professionals.
  • Advocate for the voice of the child within multi-agency settings.
  • Work independently whilst contributing positively as part of a wider team.
  • Hold a minimum of 5 GCSEs (A–C) or equivalent Level 3 qualification, with evidence of ongoing professional development.

Additional Information

  • Fixed Term Contract until 31/08/2027. 37 Hours a week.
  • This role can be fully office based or hybrid (approximately 3 days per week in the office)
  • The current base for these roles is Taunton, with potential work county wide, but we could be flexible for the right candidate.
  • 28 day’s annual leave (additional to bank holidays), pro rata for part time.
  • Regretfully, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role. We are only able to proceed with candidates who already have the right to work in the UK without the need for visa sponsorship
