Support Worker Opportunity
Karoo Group is offering an exciting opportunity for a Support Worker who is passionate about advocating for young people and helping them maximize their choices, rights, and decision-making. This role is well suited to someone who wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people within a newly opened provision set in the Durham countryside.

Duties Include
- Taking on the role of a corporate parent, providing young people with care, guidance, and direction.
- Building genuine and meaningful relationships with children and young people who have experienced complex early lives, working within a trauma-informed model.
- Ensuring the protection and safeguarding of young people in our care.
- Embedding Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) while developing trust and mutual respect with the young person.
- Supporting young people with complex needs.
- Taking immediate action whenever the welfare or safety of a young person is at risk.
- Ensuring the wishes, thoughts, and feelings of young people are heard and advocated for.
- Delivering high-quality support and guidance to help achieve the best possible outcomes.
- Supporting the Residential Home Manager in exceeding expectations during Inspection and Regulation 44 visits by demonstrating positive outcomes.
- Being flexible and participating in activities with young people, as well as attending all necessary appointments.
- Managing complex behaviours to encourage engagement in positive and structured routines, including support during crisis intervention.
- Providing care that addresses the physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of children and young people.
- Applying Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy (PACE) alongside Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to create an environment that supports development and promotes positive outcomes.
- Carrying out other duties appropriate to the level and nature of the role.

Person Specification

- QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards it within the required timescales.
- Ability to engage with young people who present challenging behaviours and have complex emotional needs.
- Two years’ experience in a children’s residential setting is desirable.
- Ability to work required shift patterns, including weekends, overnight shifts, late shifts, and bank holidays.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business purposes.
