Childcare Apprenticeship - Andover
Finkley Down Farm Nursery are looking for a new Early Years Apprentice. You will be studying toward your Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship L2 or 3 dependent on prior experience/qualifications.

Responsibilities
- Gain hands-on skills in childcare, child development, and safeguarding.
- Work with babies from 3 months up to 5 years.
- Help create a fun, nurturing environment where children thrive.
- Deliver high-quality care and exciting learning experiences tailored to each child’s needs.
- Follow nursery policies to keep children safe and supported.
- Ensure the completion of your apprenticeship, seeking help from your mentor where needed.
- Constantly develop and maintain an educational play framework in line with the EYFS.
- Support children to be safe while having fun.
- Observe and support children’s learning.
- Take responsibility for allocated “key children” within pre-agreed timescales.
- Develop and maintain highly professional working relationships with team members, advisory teachers, and other agencies.
- Use initiative to develop and advance both the children and the setting.
- Follow nursery procedures and policies.
- Be flexible within the working practices of the setting, including undertaking certain domestic duties (e.g., preparation of snack meals, cleaning).
- Be involved in out-of-working activities (e.g., training, staff meetings, fundraising, social events).
- Look where your skill set can be utilized and constantly look for advancement of the nursery following completion of your apprenticeship.
- Ensure confidentiality is fully maintained at all times.
- Support babies and young children through a range of transitions and significant events.
- Recognize when a child is in danger, at risk of serious harm or abuse and explain the procedures to be followed to protect them.
- Identify risks and hazards in the provision and during off-site visits.
- Use prevention and control of infection techniques.
- Deal with spillages safely and dispose of waste safely.
- Use equipment, furniture, and materials safely and securely.
- Encourage children to be aware of personal safety and the safety of others.
- Develop personal hygiene practices.
- Promote health and wellbeing by encouraging healthy eating and physical activity.
- Carry out respectful care routines appropriate to the needs of the child.
- Communicate with all children, including those for whom English is an additional language and those with additional needs.
- Extend children’s development and learning through verbal and non-verbal communication.
- Encourage babies and young children to use a range of communication methods.
- Use a range of appropriate communication methods to share information with children, parents, or carers and other professionals.
- Work with colleagues to identify and plan educational programmes.
- Implement and review activities to support children’s play, creativity, social development, and learning.
- Observe children, assess, plan, and record outcomes, sharing results accurately and confidentially.
- Use learning activities to support early language development.
- Support children’s early interest and development in mark-making, writing, reading, and being read to.
- Support children’s interest and development in mathematical learning.
- Support the graduated approach for the assessment, planning, implementation, and reviewing of each baby’s and young child's individual plan.
- Work in ways that value and respect the developmental needs and stages of babies and children.
- Use feedback and mentoring or supervision to identify and support areas for development, goals, and career opportunities.
- Work co-operatively with colleagues, other professionals, and agencies.
- Work alongside parents or carers and recognize their role in the child’s health, well-being, learning, and development.
- Encourage parents or carers to take an active role in the child’s care, play, learning, and development.
- Share information with parents or carers about healthy diets, dental hygiene, and physical activity.

- Wage: £15,808 a year (Minimum wage rates)
- Training: Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship (Level 2 or 3 dependent on experience)
- Hours: 38 Hours Per Week (Monday-Friday, shifts range between 8am-6pm)
- Duration: 1 year
- Positions Available: 4
