Job Title

Childcare Lawyer

About the Role

We are currently partnering with a Local Authority based in Greater Manchester, who are recruiting for a Childcare Lawyer to join their team on a 3-month locum basis, with opportunities for extension past this.

Key Details

  • Position Type: Full-time
  • Hourly Rate: £50 - £60/hour (Umbrella)
  • Start Date: Subject to notice

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a caseload of Childcare legal matters, including care proceedings, PLOs and DOLs
  • Representing the Council in attended hearings concerning children in the Family Court
  • Providing a comprehensive legal service on all aspects of child protection work to the Children, Young People and Families Directorate and to the Council
  • Briefing Counsel on behalf of the Council in the Family Court, and obtaining Counsel’s opinion on any relevant matters relating to children’s proceedings
  • Advising on, negotiating and drafting legal documents to give effect to decisions of the Client Directorate and the Council

Requirements

  • Qualifications: Qualified Solicitor
  • Experience: Recent experience working within Childcare law for a Local Authority

Working Hours

  • 37 hours per week
  • Flexible working hours
