Rhws Rangers Childcare will provide high-quality wraparound childcare in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can learn, develop, and thrive through play. Working in partnership with Rhws Primary School, we are committed to delivering child-centred play opportunities and outdoor experiences that support children's wellbeing, independence, and development.

We seek an enthusiastic, organised, and motivated Childcare Manager to lead our provision and ensure that children receive highest standards of care, play, and support.

About the Role

Salary & Contract

  • Grade 7 SCP 20 – £16.90 per hour
  • 35 hours per week, 38 weeks per year (covering term time hours of 11:00am – 6:30pm)
  • Temporary contract – Initially for one year. Extension subject to the childcare provision’s success.

As Childcare Manager, you will:

  • Lead and support a team of staff.
  • Ensure high standards of care, play, and learning.
  • Maintain compliance with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) requirements.
  • Deliver a safe, inclusive, and child-centred environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing daily operations of the childcare provision.
  • Leading, supervising, and developing staff via training, appraisals, and support.
  • Ensuring compliance with CIW regulations, National Minimum Standards, and safeguarding policies.
  • Reviewing and maintaining policies, procedures, and quality assurance systems.
  • Managing staff rota planning and ensuring appropriate staff-to-child ratios.
  • Monitoring finances, bookings, attendance, and administrative systems.
  • Collaborating with parents, school leaders, governors, and external agencies.
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of high-quality play opportunities, including holiday provision.
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive, and enriching play environment.

About You

We are looking for a candidate who meets the following essential requirements:

  • Holds at least a Level 3 Children’s Care, Play, and Learning and Development qualification.
  • Holds at least a Level 3 Diploma in Playwork.
  • Has at least two years’ experience working within a childcare setting.
  • Demonstrates leadership experience (e.g., leading or supervising a team).
  • Has knowledge of Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) requirements and National Minimum Standards for Regulated Childcare.
  • Understands safeguarding, child development, and health and safety protocols.
  • Possesses excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Can build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and the wider school community.
  • Committed to providing high-quality, child-centred play opportunities.
