Childcare Site Director
Site Director – Part-Time
Location: Hemphill Elementary School, Birmingham, AL
Position: Site Director Status: Part-Time, Non-exempt Pay: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 2:30pm – 6:00pm Operation follows school calendar Potential summer hours

🌤 About the Role
The Site Director at Healthy Kids Programs is the heart of our after-school experience. You run a high-quality, engaging daily program that keeps kids engaged, families trusting, and your team organized. Your responsibilities include:
- Managing program quality to ensure kids love (and parents trust) the program
- Ensuring staffing is stable and staff feel supported
- Operating safely and fully compliant with all state requirements
- Providing everything the site needs—from resources to a well-run, enjoyable experience
This role demands energy, organization, and passion. You’ll make a real difference for kids every day whether it’s shaping learning experiences or ensuring smooth operations.

- Program Quality: Kids are safe, engaged, and happy daily. Parents consistently keep enrolling.
- Staffing: Fully funded everyday coverage, well-prepared and supported teachers showing up.
- Compliance: Always operating at required staff-to-child ratios. Records accurate and inspection-ready at all times.
- **Inventory:**site well-stocked—no shortages mid-week, teachers have necessary resources every day.
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Quality & Enrollment
- Curriculum Delivery: Run an engaging, high-quality program that aligns with HKP’s 10 Healthy Ways to Engage and daily standards.
- Safe & Welcoming Environment: Foster inclusiveness and care so every child feels valued.
- Family Communication: Keep parents warm, proactive, and informed about program details.
- Enrollment Growth: Build a program families love, keep their children in, and recommend to others.
- Outreach: Participate in enrollment events as needed.
- Feedback Loop: Share observations and enrollment performance with your Multi-Site Director.

2. Staffing – Lead Like a Pro
- Directorial Leadership: Supervise and coach Lead Teachers & Assistant Teachers daily.
- Clear Expectations: Define standard for conduct, program delivery, and professionalism—demonstrating it yourself.
- Walkthroughs: Conduct regular site observations, providing real-time coaching to teachers.
- Coverage: Proactively communicate staffing gaps and workload shifts to your Multi-Site Director.
- Onboarding: Help new staff acclimate quickly with support where needed.
- Handling Concerns: Document and flag any personnel issues or performance drops immediately.
- Team Culture: Build a supported, mission-driven team with aligned values.
3. Payroll & Scheduling Efficiency
- Compliance Driven: Schedule according to required staff-to-child ratios—over- or under-staffing is non-negotiable.
- Time Tracking: Approve accurate and timely timecards that reflect actual hours worked.
- Budget Custody: Keep payroll costs within budget, flagging anomalies and adjusting as needed.
- Logical Scheduling: Minimize overtime, maximize coverage efficiency.
- Communication: Notify staff of schedule changes transparently and document adjustments carefully.
- HR Systems: Use platforms like Paylocity correctly and consistently.
4. Compliance & Safety
- Ratios: Maintain mandated staff-to-child ratios at all times.
- Attendance & Records: Track accurately with current, organized documentation.
- Safety & Cleanliness: Ensure program space meets all licensing standards.
- Staff Certifications: Verify current certifications (CPR, First Aid, mandated reporting, etc.) for all team members.
- Escalate Immediately: Report health, safety, or compliance issues to your supervisor right away.
- Ready for Inspections: Maintain standards for unannounced licensing inspections.
5. Inventory Mastery
- Organized & On-Track: Maintain an inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Restock Alerts: Proactively communicate restocking needs before shortages occur.
- Ready for Teachers: Ensure all necessary materials (arts/crafts, activity supplies) are available daily.
- Responsibility: Keep the program space organized after each day and flag any broken/damaged equipment immediately.
- Resource Stewardship: Lead by example and coach staff in proper use of supplies.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to pass a TB test.
- Ability to complete all required onboarding and state-mandated trainings (if not pre-validated).
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain after hire).
- Knowledge of Alabama DHR licensing standards.
- Experience with the Arise system (a plus).
