Childcare Solicitor

£50,856 - £57,083 | Hybrid Working | Flexible Working Options

If you're looking for a role where you can conduct your own advocacy, work on complex and rewarding childcare matters, and join one of the country's most respected in-house legal teams, Warwickshire County Council would like to hear from you.

Warwickshire Legal Services

Warwickshire Legal Services is an award-winning legal practice with more than 140 legal professionals supporting the Council and a wide range of public sector clients. Known for its high standards, collaborative culture and innovative approach, the team has built an outstanding reputation as one of the leading local authority legal services in the UK.

Due to the departure of a valued team member, we're looking to appoint a Childcare Solicitor to join our specialist Court Team.

The Role

You'll provide high-quality legal advice to Children's Services while managing a varied caseload of public law childcare matters from instruction through to conclusion.

Advocacy is a key part of the role. You'll undertake the majority of your own hearings, developing strong relationships with clients and the courts while seeing cases through from start to finish. More complex advocacy is supported by experienced in-house Counsel, ensuring you have access to specialist expertise whenever required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
