Overview

Change Grow Live are a charity dedicated to the belief that we can make a difference to our Service Users' lives. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Children & Families Impact Worker to join a dynamic team committed to supporting young people who have been affected by someone drug and/or alcohol issues. You will engage children, young people (CYP) and families in a range of support and interventions relating to familial substance use with the aim of increasing resilience and preventing intergenerational childhood trauma.

Where: Kirklees

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hrs per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities

About the Role

  • To work closely and proactively with the family unit to support positive and sustainable outcomes.
  • Identify families in conjunction with other agencies, who will benefit from a Think Family / Whole family approach, negotiating participation and engagement with the programme of care.
  • To holistically support CYP affected by parental substance misuse, using a range of interventions including: group work, 1:1 work, whole family interventions, safety planning and safeguarding.
  • To share subject specific knowledge and skills across the team to support workforce development.
  • To provide advocacy, advice and support to family members where appropriate, to reduce risk and increase resilience.
  • To support the development of resources, interventions and programmes to enhance the delivery of ‘hidden harm’ interventions.
  • To attend planning meetings, reviews, child protection conferences and any other relevant decision making forums for CYP and families in need of support from the service.

About You

  • Experience of working with families who have multiple risk factors.
  • Experience of delivering 1:1 and group work, including evidenced-based interventions.
  • Experience of working with young people, families and children under the age of 18 years who are affected by substance misuse.
  • Experience of working in close partnership with key stakeholders including Children’s Services, schools, primary care.
  • Experience of undertaking comprehensive assessments, care-planning, case management and reviews.
  • Clear understanding of the Hidden Harm agenda (desirable but not essential).
