Your Role as a Childcare Practitioner

You’ll provide hands-on care and mentorship to young people aged 12–17, fostering independence and confidence in a safe, nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure daily care in a supportive, homely setting
  • Meet physical, emotional, social, and educational needs
  • Build trusting relationships to support personal growth
  • Encourage independence in daily living skills
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and social workers
  • Offer positive experiences that build confidence and resilience
  • Manage challenging behaviour with composure and safety
  • Maintain detailed records of progress and support plans
  • Contribute to a positive team culture

Requirements

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Residential Childcare (or willingness to train) • Deep passion for supporting young people—especially those with difficult behaviours • A genuine drive to create meaningful change • Strong communication, empathy, and emotional intelligence • A calm, resilient mindset • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Excellent record-keeping and organisational skills • Flexibility to work shift patterns—including days, waking nights, and occasional sleep-ins
