This is an excellent opportunity to join as a Deputy Manager at a government-rated "Good" children’s home in Stoke on Trent. The home collaborates effectively with external agencies, including local authorities.

Key Responsibilities

As Deputy Manager, you will:

  • Support and represent the Registered Manager when unavailable
  • Ensure the home meets Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the home
  • Provide direct supervision to team leaders and support workers
  • Facilitate staff development and support for young people in placement

Regulatory & Operational Duties

  • Update placement plans and risk assessments promptly
  • Implement plans following Ofsted inspections and ensure home complies with:
    • Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
    • Quality Care Standards
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive environment for children, addressing essential needs:
    • Education and attendance
    • Medical conditions and treatments
    • Religious, cultural, and dietary requirements

Partnership & Support Work

  • Collaborate with local authorities, schools, and families
  • Commit to the welfare and growth of young people within the home

Ideal Candidate Requirements

Minimum Experience & Knowledge

  • At least two years of experience in residential childcare settings
  • Must hold a Level 3 Qualification in Children's Residential Care
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Quality Care Standards
    • SCCIF criteria
    • Childcare legislation and regulatory standards

Essential Qualification

  • Full UK manual car driving licence required
