Childrens Residential Support Worker
Children’s Support Worker – Home-Based (Therapeutic Care)
Department: Residential Employment Type: Permanent – Full Time Location: Cherry Blossom (Barnsley) Compensation: £35,122 – £35,745 per year (Equivalent to £13.45 – £13.75/hour for shifts + £60/sleep-in nights, ~6-10 sleep-ins/month + 365-day service coverage)
About the Role
At Esland, we empower young people aged 8–18 with adverse experiences and complex trauma to reclaim their potential through trauma-informed, therapeutic care. We seek a compassionate, resilient Children’s Support Worker to join our home-based, full-time team in Barnsley—serving as their role model, professional parent, and emotional anchor.

Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Building trusting, therapeutic relationships with a young person in our solo home setting.
- Supporting them with:
- Emotional regulation and coping strategies during distress.
- Daily routines (e.g., self-care, household tasks, education compliance).
- Personal development linked to their interests and goals.
- Implementing nationally recognised care plans and befriending approaches.
- Safeguarding compliance: detailed, accurate record-keeping and reporting to adhere to Esland’s high standards and regulatory expectations.
- Leading engaging activities (e.g., creative, physical, educational) tailored to their needs.
- Meeting commitments to structured shifts:
- 48-hour rotations (including paid sleep-ins).
- 4-day breaks in accordance with our 365-service model (including paid bank holidays).

About You
Desirable: Experience in:
- Formal care roles (fostering/residential support).
- Educational mentorship (primary/secondary schools, Pupil Welfare).
- Mental health support or trauma counselling processes.
- Engaging young people through arts, sports, creative or community-led activities.

- Full UK driving licence (vehicle essential for home visits).
