Children's Residential Support Worker

Children’s Residential Support Worker (RSW)

Location: Nottingham, NG2

Salary: £33,795–£35,795 p.a. (inclusive of sleep-in allowance and complex care allowance)

Contract: Full time, permanent

Total Care Matters is an established residential children’s home provider with nine regional homes, supporting children and young people aged eight to seventeen. We are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment where children can thrive and realise their full potential. Our mission is to empower young people through care, guidance, and support, ensuring they achieve positive long-term outcomes.

We are seeking dynamic youth mentors who share a passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.


About the Role

As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care, ensuring young people feel safe, valued, and supported in their development. You will collaborate with a professional team to create a structured, engaging, and empowering residential environment, fostering independence, confidence, and each young person’s unique potential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervising and supporting young people in a residential setting, ensuring their well-being and safety.
  • Implementing and upholding safeguarding policies to protect children from harm.
  • Promoting education, personal development, and life skills, helping young people achieve their goals.
  • Encouraging and supporting independence through practical skills and guidance.
  • Completing and maintaining detailed incident and accident reports.
  • Participating in mandatory training to advance your role and improve care practices.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to create a positive and engaging home environment.

Requirements

Essential Criteria

✅ Must hold a full UK driving licence. ✅ Must be eligible to work in the UK. ✅ Must undergo an enhanced DBS check or provide evidence of being on the DBS Update Service.

Desirable

🔹 Experience in supporting children or young people in a care or similar setting. 🔹 Passion for children’s welfare – if lacking direct experience. 🔹 Qualifications: Level 3 or equivalent in Children & Young People (though we actively support progression into this qualification).
