Are you a passionate advocate for children? If so, then this is the job for you

The Children’s Safeguarding Team offer a Safeguarding service for children from birth to 18yrs, providing guidance, supervision & training to all staff at UHSussex.

This is a full time, fixed term 12 month position offering Maternity Cover for the current post holder

Duties

  • Managing safeguarding concerns & referrals
  • Advocating for vulnerable children in contact with the Trust
  • Collaborating with local Safeguarding Partners to ensure the best possible outcomes for children
  • Planning & implementation of safeguarding training
  • Support the delivery of safeguarding supervision to the MDT
  • Receive regular supervision by senior members of the Safeguarding Team

Additional Involvement

  • Practice improvement projects, such as Newsletters and ‘Case of The Month’
  • ‘Neglect Champion’ within the Trust

Role Location

  • Based at Worthing Hospital
  • Requirement for cross-site working at St. Richard's Hospital on occasions

Support and Development

  • Supported to develop your safeguarding knowledge & experience
  • Management of different Safeguarding caseloads
  • Establishing relationships with the wider MDT on both sites

Requirements

  • Communicate effectively with children and families
  • Daily responsibility for the scrutiny of all paediatric attendances to the hospital urgent care settings (Emergency Department and wards)
  • Liaison with health care professionals and partner agencies and maintain effective processes
  • Escalate concerns in accordance with the trust and multi-agency guidance
  • Participate in the organisation and delivery of safeguarding training for clinical and non-clinical staff across the Trust
  • Knowledgeable of the NMC code of conduct and accountable for practice in accordance with that code, along with the Roles and Competencies for Health Care Staff (2019)
  • Support the Named Nurse and wider team members in issues relating to safeguarding children
  • Foster and maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders in relation to safeguarding children
