First Response Children’s Service Agent

Role Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a well-organised and resilient individual to join the Children and Family Services Business Support Team as a First Response Children’s Service Agent.
The primary role is to act as the first point of contact for Children’s Social Care service users via telephone and email. This position supports Bailiff and Beatrice Bailiff across locality areas, handling urgent enquiries and safeguarding concerns daily.
About the Role
You will join a motivated team committed to excellent customer service within the Children and Family Services framework.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal/external agencies to safeguard children/youth and ensure appropriate referrals for optimal outcomes.
- Provide a high-quality, professional service to First Response Children’s Duty users, addressing concerns appropriately.
- Process referrals received via telephone/email, managing multiple generic email inboxes for varying referral types.
- Use case management systems to input accurate, timely information and gather missing data.
- Partner with agencies to obtain mandatory information for cases.
- Communicate effectively with:
- Social Workers
- Team Managers
- Professionals
- Members of the public
- Escalate immediate safeguarding concerns to senior staff as required.
- Follow written processes/guidance while prioritising workload and collaborating within a team.

About You
To apply, candidates must demonstrate experience/met the following:
- Hold a NVQ Level 2 in Customer Services (or equivalent experience in a customer-facing role).
- Experience communicating with diverse stakeholders (e.g., professionals, public) in a professional manner.
- Familiarity with child/young person needs and available services.
- Ability to handle sensitive/distressing information while maintaining confidentiality.
- Proven track record of working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Confident workload prioritisation, self-initiative, and teamwork under tight deadlines.
- Basic computer skills with accurate typing experience.
