Childrens House Manager – Blackburn, Lancashire
An exciting new position has arisen for an experienced Children’s Home Manager within a home based in the Blackburn, Lancashire area.
You will be joining one of the UK’s leading care providers, dedicated to supporting individuals with complex needs and learning disabilities across diverse services, including:
- Supported living
- Residential emergency accommodation
- Specialised step:down services for mental health care
Requirements
To be considered, you must hold:
- A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (Children’s Residential Parents Group) (or be willing to complete this)
- A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification)
Key Responsibilities
As the Children’s House Manager, your core duties will include:
- Acting as a safeguarding expert, with deep expertise in risk assessment, legislation (including CHR2015, Ofsted standards, and Working Together), ensuring robust decision-making for high-quality outcomes for young people.
- Collaborating closely with the Registered Manager to maintain Ofsted excellence in daily operations.
- Establishing and maintaining partnerships with Social Services, NHS, Police, and Education networks.
- Effectively deputising for the Registered Manager, overseeing home leadership and team performance in their absence.
- Inspiring and developing staff to build a strong, skilled team—mentoring future leaders within children’s residential care.
- Monitoring and upholding meticulous standards, setting objectives and implementing best-practice systems.
- Advocating for innovative solutions to complex challenges.

Preferred Skills & Experience
Ideal candidates will bring:
- At least 2+ years of supervisory experience in childcare, preferably within Ofsted-regulated settings.
- Thorough knowledge of UK childcare legislation, quality standards, and safeguarding frameworks.
- Resilience and emotional intelligence—stədy in chaotic situations, engage empathetically with young people experiencing attachment difficulties or trauma.
- Basic IT literacy with learning and evidence systems proficiency.
- A minimum 25+ years of age.
- Full UK driving license (essential for travel between homes, appointments, and training).
