Children’s Support Worker – Cambridgeshire & Hertfordshire
Supporting Young Lives Through Understanding and Care
At Paragon Social Care, we provide round-the-clock support to children and young people in local authority care, particularly during times of crisis, transition, and uncertainty. Our work focuses on creating safe, stable environments where young people can rebuild trust, develop resilience, and work towards positive life outcomes.
We are now recruiting Children’s Support Workers across Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire to join our growing team.
The Role
This is a rewarding yet demanding role, delivering essential support to children and young people with emotional and behavioural challenges. We are looking for reliable, compassionate, and emotionally resilient individuals who can:
- Build trusting and professional relationships
- Maintain clear boundaries
- Provide consistent support during challenging situations
- Work respectfully and effectively as part of a collaborative team
You will work within residential settings and community-based support packages, delivering trauma-informed care.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide safe, consistent trauma-informed support to children and young people • Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships based on trust and respect • Support daily routines, independence, education, and life skills development • Encourage participation in activities, hobbies, and healthy routines • Facilitate attendance at appointments, educational settings, and community activities • Maintain accurate records, file safeguarding reports, and contribute to care planning • Transport young people as required (own vehicle with full UK driving licence essential)
Requirements
• Desirable: Paid or voluntary experience working with children or young people • Calm, resilient and emotionally mature approach to high-pressure situations • Strong communication skills and ability to build meaningful relationships • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check • Desirable but not essential: Level 3 NVQ in Children’s Residential Care

What We Offer
• Pay rates:
- PAYE: £17.50ph – £24.00ph (including holiday pay)

Note: A minimum availability of 2–3 shifts per week is required due to service demands.
