Main Purpose/Objectives of Role
To carry out high-quality reinstatement works following excavation activities, restoring concrete surfaces to the required specification, industry standards, and health and safety regulations.
Key Duties/Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Gang
- Lead Operative: Responsible for setting out work, quality control, liaising with supervisors, and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Second Operative: Assists with excavation preparation, material handling, concrete placement, finishing, site safety, and equipment operation.
Duties
- Prepare excavation areas for reinstatement.
- Reinstate concrete footways, carriageways, and other paved areas in accordance with the relevant specification (e.g. NRSWA requirements where applicable).
- Mix, place, compact, level, and finish concrete to the required standard.
- Ensure correct curing and protection of newly laid concrete.
- Operate and maintain small plant and equipment safely, including disc cutters, breakers, compactors, mixers, and hand tools.
- Maintain a safe working environment, including traffic management and pedestrian safety where required.
- Carry out daily checks on tools, plant, and equipment.
- Keep accurate records of completed works and report any defects or issues to the supervisor.
- Maintain good housekeeping and ensure work sites are left clean and safe.
- Deliver reinstatement works to the required specification and within agreed timescales.
- Minimise defects and ensure a right-first-time approach.
- Promote excellent customer service and maintain a professional attitude on site.
- Undertake any other reasonable tasks as directed by management
- Comply with all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Wear and maintain appropriate PPE.
- Conduct risk assessments and follow safe systems of work.
- Report accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.

The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in concrete reinstatement works.
- Good understanding of reinstatement specifications and standards.
- Valid CSCS card (or equivalent).
- NRSWA Street Works qualification.
- Full UK driving licence (at least one operative).
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
