Civil CAD Technician
Location: Leeds, North East England – Hybrid Type: Permanent – Full Time Salary: Competitive (DOE) & Flexible Benefits
About the Role
The Technician is responsible for the production of accurate, consistent, and controlled digital technical information to support project delivery. Working within a discipline team and the wider Technical Drawing Office (TDO), the role focuses on developing models and graphical outputs that correctly reflect design intent, comply with agreed standards, and support coordination, construction activities, and handover.
This is a hands-on production role requiring:
- Strong attention to detail
- Technical competence
- Understanding of how digital information supports design, coordination, construction, and handover
Key Deliverables
Digital Information Production
- Produce discipline-specific digital information (models and associated outputs) in line with project requirements.
- Ensure outputs accurately reflect design intent and engineering decisions.
- Make sure information is fit for coordination and downstream use—not just internal review.
- Update models and drawings based on:
- Design changes
- Coordination feedback
- Review comments
Standards & Controlled Production
- Apply agreed drawing, modelling, and presentation standards consistently.
- Follow approved:
- Templates
- Title blocks
- Model structures
- Configuration settings
- Adhere to TDO workflows and production procedures.
- Maintain consistency across deliverables, packages, and revisions through project lifecycle.

Coordination Support
- Respond to coordination comments, clash outputs, and required updates.
- Work under direction of Senior Technician(s) to address coordination/quality issues.
- Ensure discipline outputs integrate correctly with the broader project.
- Identify and raise potential clashes, inconsistencies, or buildability concerns.
Quality & Accuracy
- Perform self-checks prior to review and issue.
- Correct errors identified through:
- Checking
- Coordination
- Review processes
- Maintain accurate revision control; ensure superseded information is not reused.
- Take full responsibility for accuracy and quality of all outputs.
Collaboration & Development
- Work closely with engineers, designers, and other Fabrication Technicians.
- Engage constructively with feedback and direction from senior team members.
- Proactively develop:
- Technical skills
- Software proficiency
- Project workflow understanding
- Contribute to a collaborative, professional, and delivery-focused environment.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience:
- Strong background in technical production roles within design or construction environments.
- Civil/Structural background, with ideally experience in:
- RC (Reinforced Concrete) detailing
- Steelwork detailing
- Design Network Owners (DNOs) collaboration
Technical Skills:
- Competence in relevant CAD and modelling tools (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Tekla).
- Basic understanding of coordination and multi-discipline working.
- Awareness of quality, accuracy, and revision control requirements.
