Civil Engineer - London
Want to work on some of the UK's most technically challenging and innovative engineering projects?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Civil Engineer with around 3-5 years' experience to join a market-leading multidisciplinary design consultancy in London. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within an integrated team of engineers, architects, digital specialists and designers, delivering complex projects using modern methods of construction and cutting-edge digital design techniques.
From world-class data centres and life sciences facilities to hospitals, commercial developments and next-generation industrial projects, you'll work on schemes where civil engineering plays a critical role in delivering sustainable, efficient and highly coordinated infrastructure solutions.
The Role
Working as part of a collaborative Civil and Structural team, you'll be responsible for delivering civil engineering designs across projects from concept through to construction.
Responsibilities Will Include
- Designing highways, drainage, earthworks, pavements and below-ground infrastructure for a wide variety of developments.
- Producing coordinated Civil 3D models and technical design information alongside multidisciplinary project teams.
- Preparing drainage strategies and hydraulic designs using software such as InfoDrainage.
- Coordinating utilities, levels and external works within BIM-led project environments.
- Liaising with clients, local authorities, statutory undertakers and design teams throughout project delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
