Civil Engineer / Senior Civil Engineer

Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire Salary: £35,000 – £52,000 per annum (up to £52,000 DOE) Type: Full-Time | Permanent

About the Role

A well-established engineering consultancy in Abingdon is seeking a Civil Engineer or Senior Civil Engineer to join its dynamic infrastructure team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a "two-up one-down" position, catering to either an experienced Civil Engineer looking to advance or a Senior Engineer ready to take on more responsibility. Join a supportive team that encourages professional growth, offers holistic project experience, and fosters long-term career progression. You'll gain exposure to projects from pre-planning through to detailed design and construction, expanding your expertise across development, infrastructure, drainage, and highway solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Junior/Intermediate Engineer

  • Work within a multidisciplinary design team to deliver infrastructure solutions for:
    • Residential developments
    • Commercial projects
    • Mixed-use sites
  • Design and prepare technical drainage and highway plans, design reports, and construction documents
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and smooth project execution
  • Contribute to schemes from planning approval through to construction phase, with opportunities to independently manage smaller projects
  • Coordinate and organise workloads across multiple projects, ensuring deadlines and project deliverables are met

Senior Engineer or Progressive Candidates

  • Mentor and supervise junior engineers and technicians, ensuring project best practices and technical standards
  • Review technical designs and documentation for accuracy and efficiency
  • Take increased leadership in project delivery, oversight, and client-facing interactions
  • Support the consultancy’s goal of fostering well-rounded, commercially astute engineers through cross-disciplinary exposure

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
