Civil Engineer – Join RES to Power for Good
We're the world's largest independent renewable energy company. We're guided by a simple yet powerful vision: to create a future where everyone has access to affordable, zero-carbon energy.
We know our ambitions would be impossible without our people. Because we're tackling some of the world's toughest problems, we need the very best to help us. Our workforce drives our success.
Why work with us?
- Impactful work that makes a real difference.
- Opportunities to learn from inspiring colleagues across a global network.
- Personal and professional growth at every career stage.

The Position
The Civil Engineer provides cross-market engineering support to the RES Group, with a focus on maximising value, reducing cost and managing risk. This hybrid role sits between project development and asset management, delivering specialist civil engineering expertise across the renewable energy lifecycle—from wind, solar and battery storage developments through to operation teams.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Development phases: Leading engineering review, delivering civil engineering designs, and positioning asset layouts for wind, solar, battery storage and green hydrogen projects.
- Project management: Coordinating specialist work (surveys, geotechnical, etc.) and collaborating with local teams to support project decision-making.
- Critical reviews: Providing technical oversight on third-party designs, validating contractor outputs, and offering expert advice on compliance, risk and technical feasibility.
- Operational asset support: Ensuring safe, efficient maintenance and upgrades for RES-managed infrastructure.
You’ll also represent best practice and engineering governance across RES regions by promoting consistency in design and delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
