About the Business Unit
Our Transport team helps conceive, deliver, and maintain transport solutions worldwide. From business case preparation to infrastructure completion and maintenance, we cover the entire project lifecycle—planning, engineering, environmental assessment, and management.
We play a key role in developing the Global Transport Sector Strategy and support major rail investments in Ireland and the UK.
Overview of the Role
We’re looking for a Civil Engineer to join our growing rail team in Ireland and contribute to rail development across Ireland and the UK. Your work will help shape the rail market in Ireland, from large-scale infrastructure projects to local community-focused enhancements.
As part of a supportive team, you’ll:
- Build and strengthen the local civil engineering capability.
- Embed technical excellence in all deliverables.
- Develop stronger relationships with clients like Translink (Northern Ireland Railways) and Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail).
This role offers diverse, high-profile projects—from designing railway infrastructure to mentoring junior engineers. You’ll work autonomously yet collaboratively, handling design, risk management, and project delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
