Job Description Summary
Systems Engineering is a cross-functional technical discipline focused on an approach, a mindset, and a process. All activities considering both the business and technical requirements of customers, with the goal of delivering a quality product that meets user needs. The discipline for implementing a solid process to design, create, and optimize systems, which consists of identifying and quantifying system requirements, creating alternative system design concepts, performing design trade-off studies, selecting and implementing the best designs, and verifying that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that runs from concept through production to operation.
Responsible for planning/executing the department's operations or focused on executing professional activities within a technical discipline. Has some autonomy but is guided by established guidelines or the review of final results.
The position allows for the modification of work processes and practices, as long as the final results meet the standards of acceptance (quality, scope, timeliness, etc.).
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Supports the planning, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally occurring environment; includes work such as: soil mechanics, seismic analysis, and foundations for equipment supplied by GE Vernova. With an integrated function, specifies the design and requirements for all underground and aboveground construction, and specifies the contractor for these (leveling, foundations, slabs, etc.). Also includes CW cost estimations, constructability assessments and sequencing, knowledge of local construction laws and standards, and the application of structural steel, construction, and geotechnical principles. Performs analysis and designs for industrial structures that withstand static and dynamic loads. Structural engineering typically includes sizing and analyzing structural steel, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, timber frames, and masonry to address loads and load combinations prescribed by law and to ensure the safety of the structure. Leverages in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline, as well as analytical thinking and technical experience, to implement policies/strategies. Has knowledge of best practices and how their area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that distinguish the company in the market. Uses some judgment and has the ability to propose different solutions outside of established parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical diversity and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of their own teams to make decisions. Serves as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Can lead small projects with low risk and resource requirements. Explains information; develops skills to move team members to a consensus on issues within the field. Communicates performance expectations and can handle confidential issues.

This role requires advanced experience. The level of knowledge is comparable to a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
