Location: Birmingham
Salary: GBP35,000 - GBP45,000 plus benefits
I am recruiting for a Civil Engineer to join a respected consultancy in Birmingham delivering residential and commercial development projects. This is a strong opportunity for a Civil Engineer with solid drainage and infrastructure design experience who wants progression within a supportive, well-established civil engineering team.
This Civil Engineer role focuses on private and adoptable drainage design from concept through to technical approval. As a Civil Engineer, you will work closely with senior staff, contribute to S38, S278, and S104 submissions, and build valuable client-facing experience. You will liaise with clients, local authority officers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth coordination across all project stages.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed foul and surface water drainage designs using MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage
- Prepare S38, S278, and S104 technical submissions
- Create engineering drawings using AutoCAD with PDS or Civil 3D
- Liaise with clients, council officers, and internal design teams
- Support feasibility studies, technical reports, and project documentation
- Contribute to planning coordination and quality assurance activities
- Develop technical capability through project-based learning and structured training
About You
- Degree qualified Civil Engineer or related discipline
- Three to four years UK experience in drainage and highways design
- Confident using AutoCAD, PDS or Civil 3D, and MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage
- Strong communication, numeracy, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable managing multiple projects in a consultancy environment
